Mysuru: A mother and her 2-year-old child were found dead at their residence in Gattavadi village of Nanjanagud Taluk here on Thursday, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Annapoorna (22), wife of Mahadeva Prasad alias Rachhu and their 2-year-old son Mokshit.

The woman was found hanging next to a water-filled bucket in which the lifeless body child was found.  Police suspect that the mother killed the child before taking her own life.

Mahadeva and Annapoorna had married two years ago. The cause for the suicide was not known immediately, but police sources said marital discord may be behind the extreme step.

The mortal remains have been sent to Najanagud Government Hospital for autopsy. Investigations are ongoing.

Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
