Mysuru: The SSLC examination results of the State were released on Monday, placing Yashas M.S. of Sadvidya High School in Mysuru and Sudershan K.S. of Holy Child High School in Bengaluru at the top spot. Both students scored centum in all the subjects, with a total of 625.

Yashas was overjoyed when his dream of becoming a topper was achieved and he said that he had been expecting such a result. “When B.S. Ranjan scored 625 marks in 2016, I also wished to score centum in all subjects and started preparing accordingly. Today, I have done it and the credit goes to the school and my teachers who coached us,” he said.

He also accredited his success to the competitive spirit created in the school, encouraging students to study and prepare well. Four preparatory tests before the final board exams made sure his mistakes were rectified and prepared him to face the final test. The fact that he topped all of his class tests and preparatory exams propelled him to face the exams with confidence.

Yashas’s father, M.S. Shivamallapa is an employee of JSS Medical College, and his mother K.M. Chandrakala is a housewife. They said that Yashas was never tensed for the exams, and did his preparations at his own pace.

Yashas is a voracious reader who used to study for around six hours a day. He says that the amount of time devoted to study is not important, but rather the attention devoted to the study. The topper said with a beaming smile that he aimed to become an aeronautical engineer.

Aditi Rao and Keerthana, who belong to the same school, missed the toppers’ spot by a single mark. Both girls scored 624 out of 625. Aditi lost one mark in social science while Keerthana lost one in English. While Keerthana confidently said that she had been expecting the score, for Aditi, the score came as a sweet surprise.

Shivani Bhat of Marimallappa’s High School also scored 624 marks, losing a mark in Mathematics.
