Mysuru: Three of a family drown in canal

Mysuru: Three members of a family tragically died due to drowning after accidentally falling into the water canal at Changowdanahalli village of HD Kote taluk here.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Kafeel (42), his wife Shawara Bhanu (35), and their daughter Shahira Bhanu (20).

The incident occurred when the family had been to the canal on the right bank of Nugu reservoir to wash their hands after completing the post-funeral ritual of Shahira’s grandmother.

Shahira reportedly slipped and fell into the canal first. In an attempt to rescue her, her parents also met a watery grave.

The bodies of the trio were recovered by the fire brigade after an extensive search operation.

An autopsy was conducted at Saragur Public Hospital and a case was registered at Saragur Police Station.
