Mysuru: A man created a scene at the sub-registrar’s office in Nanjangud after his daughter tied the knot with a boy belonging to a different caste.
On December 8, Chitra had married Mahendra of Harale village at the sub-registrar’s office against the wishes of her family. On Monday, the couple had visited the office to collect their marriage certificate.
Upon learning this Chitra’s father Basavaraj Nayak came there and in a fit of anger attempted to snatch her mangalsutra in public view. A video of him trying to forcibly separate Chitra from her husband has gone viral on social media platforms.
Chitra however managed to escape from there with Mahendra.
Later she filed a police complaint alleging a threat to their lives and sought police protection.
Acting on her complaint, police summoned Basavaraj and warned of legal action, if he troubles them.
