Mysuru: Veteran politician and BJP Lok Sabha MP from Chamarajanagar (Reserved) Constituency, V Srinivas Prasad has openly announced retiring from politics.

Addressing a gathering on Monday, October 17 he said, “I’ve been in active politics for past five decades. In another one and a half years my Lok Sabha tenure ends. The end of my MP tenure marks my 50 years of active politics. I will retire from politics after the tenure. I’ve contested 14 elections and won 11”.

Speaking out his mind he said, “Dalits and economically weaker sections have been coined. Ironically, the Dalits who were oppressed during the pre-independence era are still residing in separate colonies even after 75 years of Indian independence. Dr. B R Ambedkar is our inspiration. He brought us out of social injustice”.

“Untouchability and inequality are like mental illness. Dalits have faced a lot and they know the pain. Unfortunately, this country is filled with mentally ill people. We (Dalits) should win over this condition. We shall be aware of how secularism and untouchability destroy us. Parliament being the main pillar of democracy, I’ve served there and travelled across the country following Dr. B R Ambedkar’s principle”, he added.
