Mangaluru: City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar has used the Tulu Lipi in his name board. Notably he is the first city police commissioner to do so.
Recently Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President, Dayanand Kattalsar has even appealed to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to accord state official language status for Tulu.
People of Tulu Nadu have been fighting for the inclusion of Tulu in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution, which recognizes 22 languages as official languages in India and includes Kannada, Hindi, Konkani and many others.
