Mangaluru: A total voluntary bandh began at Kodikal on Monday morning to condemn the vandalism at Nagabana and demand the arrest of culprits behind the act.
Buses aren’t moving in the area. Shops and other businesses did not open for business on Monday. However, school buses were allowed to move for the convenience of the schoolgoing children.
The Nagabana in Kodkal was found to be desecrated on Saturday invoking widespread condemnation. This is the third such incident in the past month, with similar incidents being reported from nearby areas of Kulur and Baikampady.
The repeated incidents of harming places of religious significance have irked the locals and Hindu organizations called for a bandh as a show of protest.
A protest meeting has also been organized at 9:30 AM at the playground at Kodikal Katte.
The voluntary bandh will continue till evening, the local Hindu organizations said.
