Nagpur: Fruit vendor poses as doctor, treats Covid-19 patients; arrested

Police arrested a man for allegedly posing as a doctor and treating coronavirus patients at a dispensary in Nagpur district of Maharashtra.

Police said that the arrested, Chandan Naresh Chaudhary was a fruit vendor and later started working as an electrician.

Since last five years, Chaudhary was also running a charitable dispensary named Om Narayana Multipurpose Society, where he provided Ayurveda naturopathic treatment to patients.

He took advantage of the pandemic situation in the country and began treating Covid-19 patients at his dispensary, it is said. One of his acquaintance complained about the matter to the district police whereafter Chaudhary was arrested

Police conducted raids at his dispensary and seized oxygen cylinders, syringes and other medical equipment.

Chaudhary was arrested under the Maharashtra Practitioners Act, police said.
