Names of Amit Shah, Kishan Reddy dropped from FIR in Hyderabad

PTI, Jun 3, 2024, 4:12 PM IST

The Hyderabad city police have officially dropped the names of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy from a First Information Report (FIR) concerning the alleged use of minors during a political campaign last month.

In response to a complaint lodged by TPCC vice-president G Niranjan, which cited the presence of minors at a BJP rally on May 1, officials had initially registered an FIR against several BJP leaders, including Shah and Reddy. The complaint was forwarded to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) for a factual report.

Following an investigation, police concluded that Amit Shah and Kishan Reddy had no involvement in the incident. A charge sheet filed in a local court last week confirmed their exclusion from the case, while charges against three other BJP leaders continue.
