Two persons on a two-wheeler were killed after a tipper rammed into their vehicle in Nanthoor on Saturday, March 18.
The deceased persons have been identified as Samuel Jesudas (66) of Sulthan Batheri and his distant relative Bhoomika (17).
It is said that the rider had stopped near the signal when a tipper rammed into the two-wheeler killing the duo on the spot. An angry public that gathered at the accident spot thrashed the driver, before handing him over to the police.
Police said the negligent and rash driving by the tipper lorry driver, identified as Satish Patil, led to the tragic road mishap.
It is learned that Bhoomika was a First PUC student of St Aloysius PU College in the city. She had lost her father 15 years ago and was the only child of her parents. At the time of the accident, they were visiting Samuel’s son, who had been unwell.
The lorry driver has been arrested and a case has been registered at the Kadri East police station in this regard.
