Naravi: Bike-Lorry accident; youth dead

Venoor: A youth lost his life in a ghastly accident that occurred between a lorry and a bike at Naravi in Belthangady taluk on Wednesday morning. The deceased is identified as Pradeep Poojary (19) son of Kariya Poojary and Jaya couple, residents of Miyottu in Savya village here.
Pradeep’s brother Prashant Poojary is a employee of Kalyan jewelers in Udupi. He had transferred to Udupi from Mangaluru very recently. Since Tuesday was a holiday at the showroom, he had come on a visit to his home. On Wednesday morning, Pradeep left with Prashant with the aim to drop him at the bus stop at around 6:15am in the morning.
It is said that as Pradeep was returning back home after dropping his brother at the bus stop, he was hit head on by a lorry at the turning in front of Naravi Health Centre. The force of impact was such that, Pradeep suffered grievous head injury after being thrown on to the road and lost his life on the spot.
The autopsy of the corpse was conducted at Belthangady government hospital. Venoor police visited the spot and registered a case in this connection.
The wedding of Pradeep Poojary’s sister had been finalized with a youth from Eedu and the wedding was supposed to happen in a couple of months. Pradeep had finished his second PU education last year.
Roadside tree responsible?
There is massive tree dangerously close to road at the accident spot because of which the oncoming traffic is not quickly visible. Locals inform that several accidents have occurred here and they are urging that the dangerous tree be removed.
