The installation of the National Emblem atop the under-construction District Commissioner’s (DC) office in Padil has raised expectations that the inauguration of the new DC office complex is nearing.
The golden-colored National Emblem was installed using a large crane. Additionally, a flagpole for hoisting the national flag has already been erected at the front of the office.
The construction is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The second phase of the work, being undertaken by Mangaluru Smart City Ltd, includes the development of outdoor landscaping, boundary walls, furniture, flooring, interior fittings for the DC office, hall designs, painting, and electrical and cable networking systems. These works, costing approximately Rs 15 crore, are expected to be completed soon.
Features of the New DC Office Complex
The DC office complex is a three-story building spanning 2.26 lakh square feet. It will house the Revenue Department and 38 other government departments.
– Ground Floor: A large auditorium with a seating capacity of 400 people.
– Second Floor: Two meeting halls, a mini auditorium, a District Commissioner’s court hall, and offices for ministers, MPs, and MLAs, along with a canteen and other facilities.
– Basement: Parking for 50 cars and over 100 two-wheelers, with additional parking for 70 cars around the building.
Dr. Santosh Kumar, Additional DC, Dakshina Kannada informed that around 80% of the work has been completed in the Padil DC office complex. ” If the current pace continues, the remaining work is expected to be finished within the next three months,” he added.
