National Surfing Championships: Goa’s Sugar Banarse enters finals

Panambur: The 16-year-old Sugar Banarse from Goa wowed the judges with her skills and entered the finals of the women’s open surf category at the National Surfing competitions held at Panambur beach by Surfing Federation of India and Mantra Surf Club here on Saturday.
She will battle it out with Karnataka’s Ishita Malvia (6.17) and Sinchana Gowda (7.30) and Tamil Nadu’s Srishthi Selvam (10.37) in the finals on May 29.
Surfers from Tamil Nadu gave a dominating performance on Saturday. Srikanth D (9.93), Surya P (9.7), Satish Sarvanan (12), Ruban V (8.7), Ajeesh Ali (9.3), Manikandan M (8.34), and Sanjai Kumar S (9.17) advanced into the semifinals in the men’s open surf category.
However, Karnataka lad Ramesh Budhial gained a spot in the finals with the highest score of 14.33 in the men’s open category for his smooth and skillful surfing of the waves.
