Karwar: Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy emphasized the need for immediate response to people’s problems without engaging in politics during disasters like landslides.

During his visit to the landslide-affected area in Shirur, Ankola Taluk on Saturday, he told the media that the priority is to offer solace and confidence to the victims and their families. He assured that the Union Government will provide all possible assistance to the affected families, and urged the state government to offer adequate relief.

Job Promise

Kumaraswamy promised to provide a job to one member of the family that lost five members in the disaster.

Responding to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s criticism of his visit, he remarked that Shivakumar lacks other issues to discuss.

Amidst pouring rain, Kumaraswamy spent five minutes inspecting the landslide site in Shirur. He expressed shock at the vast amount of soil and rocks displaced by the landslide.
