Navajeevana Anganwadi Centre ready for inauguration with assistance from donors

Bantwal: The highest numbers of Anganwadis in the country are in Bantwal. Now another Anganwadi joining to its list is Navajeevana Anganwadi Centre at Narikombu village of Bantwal taluk.

 This Anganwadi which has been constructed at the cost of almost 18.50 lakh also has 6 ceiling fans,  2 one-and-a-half ton AC’s, flag pole, curtains for the windows, tube light and LED bulbs through the assistance provided by donors. It also has putty finish for the wall and there is greenery provided by Netravati nursery. Narikombu village also get the honour of being the first village in the district to get the Anganwadi constructed under the NRG plan.

Air conditioning facility

The fully equipped Anganwadi will be handed over to the public at 10:30 am on Dec 24th and thus the effort of the local representatives of the people has borne fruit. There are altogether 560 anganwadi centres within the limits of Bantwal. Administratively, they have been divided into Vittal and Bantwal as per which the Bantwal division has 331 while the Vittal division has 229 anganwadis. Shambur Anganwadi of Shambur village and Gadipale Anganwadi of Rayi village in Bantwal division has AC facility provided through a government grant. Now Navajeevana Anganwadi will be the 3rd Anganwadi in the division to have AC facility.

Tomorrow inauguration

The district in-charge minister U T Khader will be inaugurating the new Navajeevana Anganwadi centre at 10:30 am on December 24th. MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadiguttu will compere the programme and will be presided by the president Yashodara Karbettu, informed president Ravindra Sapalya.

Flowers and plants, colourful paintings

Flowering plants and other forms of decorative plants have been installed along the compound wall and along the verandah. The walls are decorated with eye catching paintings and through this a new model of Anganwadi has been created. The school is equipped with wide outdoor and indoor, dining room, inventory room, latest model of kitchen, bathroom, restrooms with western and eastern toilets and several other facilities have been provided. The building has been constructed in a 5 cents site and has a carpet area of 1,180 sq ft. The courtyard has been installed with interlocks. The Anganwadi centre was started here in 1991 at Navajeevana Vyayama school and therefore it has been renamed as Navajeevana Anganwadi Centre itself.

“The 3 decades old Anganwadi has been re-constructed with all the fqacilties and and new model has been created. It has all basic facilities,” said Ravindra Sapalya, president, child development committee

“The administration will discuss during the next activity plan to get grant from the TP president-vice president,” informed Abbas Ali, vice president, TP Bantwal

Everybody’s cooperation

“The foundation stone was laid on Sep 9th 2017. The contract was given to Shailesh Kuchhigudde, Rs 5 lakh was procured from the National Grameen Udyog guarantee scheme, Rs 3 lakh from women and children welfare department, Rs 30,000 from Satyadevata Charitable Trust and the remaining Rs 10.50 lakh were procured as per the assurances of various representatives of the people for the construction of the building. MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadiguttu, president Meenakshi Shantigodu, vice president Kasturi Panja, ZP member Kamalakshi K Poojary had given assurances of providing grants,” said Yashodara Karbettu, president, Narikombu GP
