Bengaluru: An inter-state and international drug trafficking racket was busted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The NCB officials based on credible information, seized 26 kg of ketamine drug near Majestic from a person, aged about 33 years, hailing from Chennai.
As per the sources, the drug was kept in the gunny bag and on seeing the NCB officials both the receiver and supplier fled the spot, but on Wednesday, May 1, the supplier was traced near Yelahanka and arrested, informed sources.
When the accused was interrogated by the official, he revealed that he was manufacturing the drug at his house in Kengeri. Following which the officials checked the house and found a lab and also came to know that he had another house in Vidyanagar, where a similar lab was found.
However, the officials seized 26 kg of ketamine from his Kengeri house.
The officers are now suspecting that there are similar labs in Hyderabad and the smugglers have links with South Asian countries and Australia.
Ketamine is used in human anaesthesia and veterinary medicine. But it is also a popular party drug, as it causes hallucination.
