Neerakatte: Lorry topples; traffic hit for five hours

Uppinangady: A lorry overturned at Neerakatte in Bajathooru on Saturday morning around 10:30am post which, traffic along Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75 was disrupted for nearly 5 hours.

The lorry was on its way to Chennai from Baikampady in Mangaluru, carrying a load of poultry manure. The accident occurred when the driver attempted to avoid ramming into a compound wall while allowing another vehicle to overtake his vehicle. As a result, the vehicle went out of control, toppled and ended up lying across the entire width of the road, thereby effectively blocking any vehicular movement. The driver Rajkamal and cleaner Gajendra survived the incident with minor bruises.

Another vehicle was procured to transfer the load from the downed vehicle post which it was shifted to one side of the road in order to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles.

Meanwhile, all vehicles plying on the stretch were diverted through the stretch were diverted through the Kadaba-Subrahmanya Road.
