Nejar case: Bail plea of accused Praveen Chougule rejected

The bail plea of the accused, Praveen Arun Chougule in the Udupi multiple murder case involving an air hostess, has been rejected.
On November 12, 2023, Praveen Arun Chougule was accused of killing four members of a family – Ainaz, Haseena, Afnan, and Aseem – in Nejar, under the jurisdiction of the Malpe police station in Udupi district.
Additional Special Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagadish presented circumstantial evidence, CCTV footage, and DNA evidence from the accused’s hair to argue against the bail. After the hearing, Justice M.G. Uma of the High Court bench dismissed the bail application.
In connection with the case, Udupi police had submitted a 15-volume, 2,202-page chargesheet in February of this year.
