Mandya: Minor Irrigation and Mandya District in-charge Minister C.S. Puttaraju has been at the receiving end of trolls following Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s defeat to Sumalatha Ambareesh in Mandya Lok Sabha seat.

In the run-up to the elections, the minister had expressed confidence that Nikhil would easily defeat Sumalatha with a margin of over 2.5 lakh votes. He even went on to say that he would retire from politics if Nikhil were to lose the elections.

The results of the elections, which was declared on May 23 saw Sumalatha scripting history by becoming the first independent candidate to win the Lok Sabha elections from Karnataka in 52 years. She defeated Nikhil with a margin of over 1 lakh votes.

Following Nikhil’s defeat, several netizens trolled Puttaraju wanting to know when he will submit his resignation. When are you resigning?, When will you take political retirement? are the questions being posed to the minister. In another tweet, a user asked the minister to act on his words now.
