New rules and technology to be introduced in Kambala

Mangaluru: The organising committee of Kambala have decided to make certain changes to the rules of the local sport which will be effective from this year.
Additionally, laser-based technology will also be acquired and utilised during the performance of the sport.
The changes to the rules of Kambala include:
– One jockey can steer only three pairs of buffaloes
– All Kambala matches are to be completed within 24 hours of beginning it
– The jockey and buffaloes should come to the field within 5 minutes of announcement else the Kambala team will be disqualified
– District level Kambala committees will be the authority for any complaints related to a match
– Kambala team that has been found to have committed wrong will be suspended for a year
– Kambala judges must be medically fit and cannot consume liquor when a match is ongoing
– All Kambala jockeys and buffaloe owners should be members of the Kambala committee to participate in matches
