New taluk limited to the signage board!

Government inaugurated the taluks enthusiastically; then neglected

Mangaluru: In order to make it convenient for the people to avail government services, 8 taluks have been announced and inaugurated. But the government has shown no interest to provide grants, appoint staffs, or take action regarding essential works and hence, the new taluks are presently limited to their signage board.

Tahsildar has been appointed for Moodbidri, Kadaba and Muli taluks. If the grant has been approved for the mini vidhana soudha in Moodbidri and Kadaba, land has been identified for the same in Mulki. Ullal taluk has only been announced. Excluding a little work carried out and the appointment of Tahsildars for the new taluks in Udupi including Hebri, Kapu, Brahmavar and Byndoor, nothing else has occurred.

27 departments essential

For the complete implementation of a taluk, 20 to 27 essential departments are required including a Tahsildar, 3 assistant tahsildars, four first grade and 8 second grade clerks, 2 attenders and four computer operators. Officials from various departments including the education officer, treasurer, agriculture, cultivation, PWD and others must work here. But presently, only a Tahsildar and a couple of staffs have been appointed at these new taluks. To manage the work, a few staffs from the mother taluk are deputed temporarily. Due to this, there is a massive lack of staffs everywhere.

Land not yet transferred!

After the creation of the new taluk, it is vital that all documents are transferred from the old taluk to the new. Some new taluks simply do not have a records room. “Bhoomi” software transfer is still pending. One has to depend on the old taluk for RTC and any necessary documents. Some parts of Moodbidri were earlier part of Karkala taluk and due to this, many documents are still pending at Karkala.

No Taluk Panchayat

Only after the complete implementation of the new taluk will the taluk panchayat be created. But no taluk panchayats have come to life in any of the new taluks in the coast.

Kadaba, Moodbidri stuck at inauguration!

Although Kadaba taluk was announced several years back, it was officially inaugurated in the month of March only. The date for the inauguration was finalized 6 times and was finally inaugurated on the 7th time. Foundation stone for the mini vidhana soudha has been laid at the cost of Rs 10 crore. But, other than the appointing of the tahsildar, nothing else has been done. Similar is the story of Moodbidri taluk.

The revenue minister will be holding a special meeting in Bengaluru soon concerning the new taluks. During the meeting I’ll request for the provision of more facilities for the new taluks – Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister
