Bengaluru: Party-goers here can now enjoy at pubs, bars and restaurants in the city till 2 am to welcome the new year.

The police also declared that they have dropped the plan to separate men and women by putting barricades on Brigade Road, the party centre for the citizens.

T Suneel Kumar, Bengaluru city police commissioner said that there will be arrests if people try to take advantage of the situation during the celebrations, just like last year revelry.

Kumar also shed light on the plans for the security and safety requesting the people to not indulge in uninvited wishes.

The police have kept last years mass molestation cases on Brigade Road and MG Road, which has earned them much criticism.

The area will be equipped with CCTV cameras, drones and watchtowers along with mobile control rooms which will keep on drawing feed to keep the unacceptable activities at bay.

Kumar said that over 2,500 police personnel will be deployed on the busy streets of Bengaluru’s party hubs and 15,000 personnel will be guarding the city with the help of 500 CCTV cameras on MG Road and around.

Koramangala, Indiranagar and Jalahalli will witness a tight bandobast, where the crowd rushes to welcome the new year.

To avoid rash-driving incidents, the police has also decided to close select flyovers from 10 pm to wee hours of Monday.

Strict checking on the highways will be conducted to curb the incidents of drunk driving, which will begin at 9 pm on the new year’s eve.

The traffic police have also banned car parking on MG Road and the routes that lead to the same right before the countdown to the new year.
