New Year reveller stabs on-duty cop

Kasargod: In an unsavoury incident, a New Year eve reveller stabbed an on-duty police officer while he was trying to disperse the crowd for creating public nuisance and blocking traffic in the early hours of Tuesday, January 1.
The injured, Jayaraj, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) attached to Bekal police station is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
As per reports, a group of revellers were causing hindrance for traffic movement in the guise of New Year celebrations and Jayaraj had gone to the spot to disperse them. While he was doing his duty one of the persons from the group is said to have stabbed him.
Bekal police have registered a case and begun investigation.
