Newly renovated Customs office inaugurated

Mangaluru: The newly renovated customs office at Bunder Old Port was inaugurated by Chief Commissioner of Customs, Bengaluru Zone, A K Jyothisi on Tuesday.
The Customs office building at Bunder Old Port was constructed in the year 1886, which is now renovated at a cost of Rs 89.46 lac.
Addressing pressperson after the inaguration A K Jyothisi said, ” It is easier to build a building than renovating. Preserving heritage, while renovating the building, is a Herculean task. It is great to know that this building has a vast history of International trade. The renovation work is our contribution to the city of Mangaluru.”
Commissioner of Customs Mangaluru, Parag C Borkar speaking on the occassion said, “When you look at the renovated customs office, it invokes nostalgia. We know how the days were, during olden times. Now coming to this office, we can relive the same moments and we are really proud of it.”
Commissioner of GST audit Bengaluru, Dr M Subramanyam , Additional commissioner of Customs Mangaluru, Imamuddin Ahmad, superintendent of customs, Sreenath H V were also present.
