NIA arrrests absconding militant from Kasaragod

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended a suspected terrorist from Padannakad in Kasaragod.

The arrested, identified as 32-year-old MB Shab Sheikh from West Bengal is suspected to be a Bangladeshi national and further investigations are underway to explore this angle.

Sheikh is reportedly involved in a recent insurgency-related incident in Assam and a case was registered against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Following this he fled from Assam and had been hiding in Kerala. A lookout notice was issued to trace him.

Acting on reliable information, Assam police in collaboration with NIA arrested him.
