NIA officially takes over Mangaluru blast case

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru autorickshaw case has been officially handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

After taking over the case the NIA recorded the main accused Shariq’s statement.

Shariq, 24, who is from Tirthahalli in Shivamogga district, was carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) in a cooker in an autorickshaw when it exploded on the outskirts of Mangaluru on November 19.

As per reports the NIA team will continue to record his statements to get more information from Shariq.

On November 19, an explosion took place in an autorickshaw within Kankanadi police station limits, injuring the passenger and the driver.

Police called it a terror act and blamed the passenger, Mohammed Shariq, responsible for the incident.
