Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port Trust has been ranked in No.1 position among 12 Major ports of the country.

The ranking were declared by independent consultants – Quality Council of India -appointed by Ministry of Shipping.

The quality check comes under Swachh Bharat Mission.

Ministry of Shipping had stipulated 37 points under Swachh Bharath Mission to all the Major Ports for implementation for the year 2017-18.

NMPT followed the guidelines and maintained cleanliness around the port. The port authorities had arranged several cleaning and repairing of sheds, offices and operational areas in the campus.

Quality Council of India, appointed by Ministry of Shipping, has ranked New Mangalore Port Trust as No.1 Port in Swachh Bharath Mission 2017-18.

The significance of this award is that NMPT could get such a prestigious award inspite of handling all types of cargo like coal, iron ore etc. This is due to the co-operation from all the officers, staff, workers, port users and all stakeholders .
