Bengaluru: Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy clarified that there is no immediate proposal to increase bus fares in Karnataka. Speaking to Udayavani regarding fare hikes for KSRTC and other transport corporations, he stated that no such plans are under consideration for now.
Earlier, transport corporations had submitted proposals for fare revisions. However, no fresh proposal for a fare hike has been submitted recently, the minister confirmed.
Reddy emphasized that decisions regarding fare hikes would be taken by the state government. Although a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary had recommended a fare increase, the final decision rests with the government.
Discussions on this matter will occur in the Transport Corporation Board meeting, and any changes will require government approval, he added.
Meanwhile, the state government is also focused on addressing concerns raised by transport workers to prevent further strikes.
