Udupi: The director of Kaljiga, Suman Suvarna, has clarified that there is no misrepresentation of divine figures in the film. He urged people to watch the movie before forming any opinions. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Suvarna emphasized that those who have watched the movie have understood this and it is better to comment after viewing.
“The coastal region has a deep respect for art, and it is heartening to see that people of all ages, from children to elders, have appreciated the film. Many are returning to the theatres for a second viewing, which is very encouraging. At a time when movies focused on violence are more common, Kaljiga stands out with its unique approach,” Suvarna said.
Producer Sharath Kumar, speaking at the event, highlighted the strong reception the film has received in Udupi, Kundapura, and Manipal. “This is a film about religion and truth. If a movie respectfully depicts God and Daivas, there should be no issue. Problems arise only if mockery is involved. Kaljiga has no such elements,” he assured.
Actor Arjun Kapikad also expressed his delight, noting that entire families are coming together to watch the film, which he believes is a testament to its quality. “Though it’s a Kannada movie, we chose a Tulu title to emphasize the importance of knowing the roots of the Tulu language,” he added.
Actor Manju Suvarna was also present at the press conference.
