Mysuru: The state wide bandh announced for January 25 has caused dilemma among the BJP members as the Parivarthana Yathre will be held on the same day in the city. While addressing the gathering at the Parivarthana Yatra in H.D. Kote in Mysuru district on Monday, State BJP president Yeddyurappa said that the bandh is needed only in parts of the sate that is actually suffering because of the Mahadayi water dispute and not the whole state.
Farmer’s union along with Kannadiga Horata sangha have called for a state wide bandh on 25th January to force the central government to resolve the Mahadayi wazter dispute which has been creating tension between Goa and Karnataka for over a decade.
Yedyurappa also said that BJP supports the Mahadayi project but there is no need to observe any bandh all over the state. Bandh is required only for the areas which are prone to suffer because of the Mahadayi water dispute. There is no need for Bandh in Mysuru. He said the BJP’s Parivarthana rally will surely be held on January 25. The rally in Mysuru has been billed by the BJP as a high-profile event to be attended by the party’s national president Amit Shah.
While addressing the gathering Yedyurappa said that while the BJP has been actively campaigning for a resolution to the Mahadayi dispute, Mr. Siddaramaiah is disrupting the project with his actions.
