Mangaluru/Udupi: In response to the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) call in the backdrop of attack on doctors in West Bengal, the OPD of all hospitals in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will cease functioning from 6am of June 17th to 6am on June 18th.

The decision was informed by the presidents of the Udupi and Mangaluru divisions of IMA, Dr Gurumurthy Bhat and Dr B Sacchidananda Rai respectively.

The ‘Bandh’ will be observed at all private medical educational institutions and hospitals in Mangaluru and Udupi from 6am of June 17th to 6am of June 18th and no services including OPD will be available. The medical shops at the hospitals too will remain shut. But, emergency services will be exempted from the bandh, they explained.

OPD services will not be available at Manipal hospital and Dr TMA Pai hospital at Karkala and Udupi, but exception will be given to emergency cases, informed KMC Manipal Medical Superintendent, Dr Avinash Shetty.
