Mangaluru: The Congress government has not imposed any restrictions on the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. Congress has never hindered the celebration of any festival in the country, and instead, it has encouraged people to celebrate with faith and devotion, said KPCC General Secretary Padmaraj R.

Speaking at a press conference at the Dakshina Kannada District Congress office on Thursday, he refuted allegations made by MLA Vedavyas Kamath that the district administration or the government has imposed restrictions on Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. He urged the MLA to abandon his narrow-mindedness.

Dakshina Kannada, known for its rich cultural diversity, witnesses people of all religions and languages celebrating festivals in a disciplined manner. Event organizers always make preparations following proper protocols, including obtaining necessary permissions, which was also a rule during the previous government’s tenure, he added.
