Non-segregated waste to attract hefty fines: BBMP

Bengaluru: BBMP has decided to stringently penalise those city residents who do not segregate waste before disposing it with the municipal garbage collectors.
Speaking to Udayavani, BBMP official Randeep said that penal action will be taken as per the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2019.
Not segregating waste before disposal will garner a fine of Rs 500 for the first time and Rs 1000 for the second time.
Disposing garbage in public places, spitting, open defection and urination will now garner a fine of Rs 500 for the first time and Rs 1000 for the second time.
Randeep also informed that from January 1 to 17, Rs 1.37 lakhs has been collected as fines from 470 people in six wards of the city.
