Hyderabad: “All citizens of the country should not be given the right to vote. If I ever enter the country’s politics I would want to be a dictator,” said Telugu movie star Vijay Deverakonda.
Speaking in an interview, he explained that suppose 300 people want to fly in a plane. Will the 300 decide who is to be the pilot? Not at all. A dedicated agency will determine who is eligible to fly the plane. Similarly, the whole country does not have to decide who should run the country.
He added that it does not make sense to me to give everyone the right to vote. Too many people sell their voting rights for money. They have no idea why are they even voting. Such people should not be allowed to vote.
Vijay Deverakonda came to prominence in South Indian cinema with ‘Arjun Reddy.’ He will be sharing screen space with Ananya Pandey in his next film ‘Fighter.’
