Notorious gang members accused of brutally killing 2 women arrested

Dharwad: The Dharwad Police have successfully arrested members of a notorious gang that had allegedly committed two spine-chilling murders of women in the district.
The accused members are Devaraj Mogalera, resident of Sagar taluk, Adaragunchi village residents Kalappa Raghuveer Rogannanavar, Basavaraj Shankarappa Valad, Mohammad Rafique Badiger, Shivanand Kenchannavar and Gangappa Maratangi.
As per the police sources, the accused are said to be between the age group of 30-40.
Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police Lokesh Jagalasar said, “Two women namely Indirabai Pawar (73) and Mahadevi Neelannavar (52), both residents of Eshwar Nagar, Hubbali district were murdered brutally on May 11 and July 2 respectively by the accused members. They target lonely women for gold and cash. After killing them, they burn the bodies around the NH 63 vicinity and escape”.
“They plan thoroughly and then go for the kill. They would wipe out all the evidence once they commit the murder. I congratulate the team of police who were involved in the operation for successfully arresting the notorious gang. If the operations to arrest them were not carried out, they would continue their brutality”, he added.
As per the police sources, Indirabai was murdered in her house. Later, the accused members brutally mutilated her body parts, filled in a bag, and burnt it near NH 63. Mahadevi too was murdered in the same manner.
Meanwhile, SP Jagalasar has assured of strict legal action against the accused gang members, who are currently under judicial custody.
