Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Monday informed that the old Kuloor bridge on National Highway 66 will soon be closed for traffic.
The NHAI which had recently undertaken a survey of bridges under its network, in its report, deemed that the 65-year-old bridge across the Phalguni (Gurupura), connecting Panambur to Mangaluru is unsafe for travel.
Senthil mentioned that once the NHAI comes up with an alternate traffic plan, a magisterial order for closure of the old bridge will be issued.
“The NHAI will construct a new bridge between the two existing one-way bridges here. Until the construction of the same is complete, two-way traffic will be allowed on the other existing bridge here,” he said.
