Old Kulur bridge closed from March 16

Mangaluru: The 68-year-old bridge at Kuloor over the Phalguni river on NH66 will be closed for repair works from Monday, March 16 ordered Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh.
The famed arch bridge has deteriorated at many places and was declared unstable last year.
As per the order, the bridge will be closed for heavy vehicles such as container trucks, trailer trucks, cranes and tanker trucks and only light vehicles including buses and six-wheeled trucks will be allowed.
The one-way new bridge will be made two-way and heavy vehicles, mentioned above, will not be allowed on this bridge too.
The heavy vehicles plying between Udupi-Bengaluru will have to divert to the Padubidri-Karkala road, those plying between Udupi-Mangaluru will have to divert to the Mulky-Moodabidri road and the Haleyanagady-Kinnigoli-Moodabidri road.
