Srinagar : Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team for getting “the better of China” in the Dokalam standoff.
“India getting the better of China is all the more remarkable because it was done without any chest thumping & (and) bluster. Kudos PM Modi & team,” Omar wrote on Twitter following an agreement between New Delhi and Beijing on disengagement in the area.
Omar said the return to status quo was a victory for India and the prime minister. “But isn’t the return to status quo a victory for India & PM Modi? It was China that wanted to alter the ground position with the road work,” he said responding to a tweet on the issue.
Troops of the two countries had been locked in a standoff in Dokalam since June 16 after Indian troops stopped the Chinese Army from building a road in the disputed area.
