On day of HDK’s scheduled visit, distressed Mandya farmer commits suicide

Mandya: A Mandya farmer committed suicide on Friday, November 21 on the day of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy scheduled visit to Dudda Hobli of Mandya taluk.
The deceased is identified as Jayakumar (43), a resident of Kannahatti.
It is gathered that Jayakumar was suffering from cancer and had borrowed Rs 2 lakh for agriculture and cancer treatment purpose. Family members suspect that he committed suicide as he was unable to repay the loan.
Following the suicide of the farmer, hundreds of farmers staged protest and raised slogans against H D Kumaraswamy. Relatives and villagers said that they will not cremate the body until district in-charge Minister C S Puttaraju visits the spot.
The protesters also tried to attack the police, however, several were taken into custody.
