One killed, another seriously injured in motorbike-bus head on collision on Agumbe Ghat

Thirthahalli: A motorbike collided with a bus on the Agumbe Ghat here on Sunday, killing the youth riding the bike and critically injuring the pillion rider.

The deceased has been identified as Shashank (28), a resident of Barkur. Nirmitha, who was riding pillion on the bike was seriously injured.

The accident occurred on the 12th turn on the hilly road. The motorbike was on its way towards Udupi from Thirthahalli when it collided head-on with an oncoming bus. As a result, Shashank was killed on the spot.

Hebri police visited the spot and are investigating.

Update: The death toll in the mishap rose to 2 after Nirmitha who had been seriously injured in the accident, breathed her last at a private hospital on June 19.
