ONGC confirms Petroleum deposit in Bagalkot of Karnataka

Bagalkot: A survey by a team from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is in progress at various parts of the district including Kopal in search of petroleum deposit. The ONGC team has confirmed the petroleum reserves at various locations of Bagalkot and survey is continuing for the last 6 days. Nearly, 60% area of the district has crude oil deposit, the sources said. 

A 2D survey is being conducted and after the completion of 2D, a 3D survey will be carried out. Meanwhile, the farmers have opposed the the survey and drilling borewells in their farm land in search of the deposit. ONGC has already obtained necessary permission from DC, Revenue Department and others for the survey works.
