Over 200 kg ganja seized in AP, two apprehended

Rajamahendravaram (AP):  The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 201 kg ganja from a car near here and apprehended two persons in this connection. The action was taken yesterday, the DRI said in a release today. Based on a tip-off, DRI officials from Vijayawada and Kakinada launched an operation and intercepted a car near Rajamahendravaram.

“During a search, they recovered 201.35 kgs ganja, which was found concealed in 93 packets in the car,” it said.
The contraband was reportedly brought from Katananduru village near Tuni in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and was being transported to Devarapalli town in West Godavari.

The value of the seized ganja is estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh, the DRI said. The car has been seized and two persons, including the driver of the vehicle, have been apprehended. Further investigation into the case is on, it said.
