Over 6,000 construction workers got Rs 2000 via DBT, says DK in-charge min

Mangaluru: A sum of Rs 2000 has been transferred to construction workers, registered with the district labour department via DBT informed Dakshina Kannada District-in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
In a bid to provide relief to construction workers, who have lost their livelihood owing to the lockdown, the state government had announced Rs 2000 to construction labourers who are registered with the labour department.
The amount has been transferred to as many as 6,122 construction workers in Dakshina Kannada so far. The amount will be deposited in the accounts of other registered construction workers at the earliest.
Further Poojary stated that the ULBs must ensure that no one starves amid the lockdown and must make make arrangements to supply food for stranded labourers, destitutes and beggars in their jurisdiction. If needed, they can seek help from NGOs towards achieving this objective, he said.
Asha workers and health workers would collect information on people’s health by visiting the houses in the district and submit a report within 10 days, Poojary added.
