A 26-year-old man has been arrested for sexually exploiting a five-year-old girl on the pretext of offering her a biscuit in Padubidri.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mufeezul Sheikh (26), a resident of Haziganj Amdahar in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. He was a laborer by profession. The victim was the daughter of the laborers working in the same construction site as Sheikh.

The accused had allegedly lured the girl into his room by offering her biscuits and sexually exploited her.

Later, the young girl complained of stomach pain and was taken to a nearby medical center for immediate medical attention.

Attentive doctors at the medical center conducted a thorough examination and noticed signs that raised suspicions of possible sexual assault.

In light of the concerning findings, the authorities decided to take immediate action to ensure the girl’s safety and well-being. Alongside a lady constable from Padubidri police station, the girl’s father and mother accompanied her as she was transferred to Udupi Government Children’s Hospital for further check-up.

The Padubidri Police Station promptly registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused.

Sheikh was presented before the Udupi Court, where the court ordered 15 days of judicial custody for the accused.
