Padubidri: A complaint has been registered in Padubidri police station against a man on charges of cheating a woman of Rs 1.65 lakh by promising to marry her.

As per the complaint filed by Moodu Palimaru resident Shobha, a man identified as Harish visited their house on May 6 and claimed that he belongs to the Vishwakarma caste.  Apparently, he had promised to marry Shobha

The accused claimed that he had sold his land in Kundapur for Rs 80 lakh.  He then demanded money from Shobha to help him get the land documents from the bank.

As Shobha did not have the money, Harish convinced his sister Shyamala to give the gold ornaments and claimed to return the money after his land deal.

However, Harish neither came back nor returned the money. Following this, a complaint was filed.
