Udupi: A car driver allegedly thrashed a bus driver at Padubidri on Monday morning after the bus overtook him.

The accused has been identified as Ismail Atiq (41) a resident of Mulki. The bus driver has been identified as Shailendra alias Shailu.

Padubidri police have registered a road rage case against the accused.

The altercation allegedly ensued when the private bus overtook the car driven by Atiq. Following this Atiq reportedly attacked the bus driver inside the bus.

Police have also registered a case against the bus driver for alleged speeding and negligent driving.

News website booked for misinformation:

The Padubidri police station also registered a case against a news website for disseminating false information about the incident, falsely claiming that “Padubidri was tense” and alleging a “stabbing of the Master Express bus driver.” Padubidri PSI Prasanna told ‘Udayavani’ that further legal action would be taken if such misinformation continued to be spread on social media.
