Padumarnadu: Husband attacks wife with a sickle, jumps into the well

Moodbidri: The argument and fight of a couple reached to a new height resulting in the husband attacking his wife with a sickle, followed by the husband jumping into the well and he incident took place at Padumarnadu on Friday Dec 7th. The husband, however is free from any danger to his life and a case of attempt to murder has been slapped against him.
Saumya Shetty (29), wife of the accused Raviraj Shetty suffered grievous injuries to her right hand and has been admitted for treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. She was a teacher at a school in Sanuru and her husband was a worker at a hotel.
Saumya, who is from Padumarnadu was married to Raviraj from Kuppepadavu, however within months of their marriage, much animosity grew within the couple and Saumya returned back to her parent’s home.
Angered by this development, the husband Raviraj came to Padumarnadu and attempted to murder his wife Saumya, who was waiting for the bus to go to her school at Sanuru.
Immediately, people in the vicinity advanced for her help seeing which he escaped. Later he attempted to commit suicide by jumping into a well in the premises of his wife’s house. But, he was rescued by the localites.
