Moodbidri: The Dakshina Kannada District Sessions Court has granted bail to Shyamala Bhat (61) and her daughter Kanmani Rao (36), who were arrested in connection with the recent murder case in Pakshikere near Mulki.

The case came to light on November 9, when Karthik Bhat (32), a resident of Pakshikere, was found dead on a railway track after reportedly killing his wife Priyanka (28) and their four-year-old son Hriday.

In a death note recovered from the crime scene, Karthik alleged that harassment by his mother and sister had driven him to take the extreme step. Based on a complaint filed by Priyanka’s mother, the Mulki police had arrested Shyamala Bhat and Kanmani Rao and presented them before the Moodbidri court.

Advocate Sharath Shetty, representing the accused, filed a bail application in the District Sessions Court. After hearing the arguments, the court granted bail to both accused on Saturday.
