Panambur: Henceforth businessmen do not need to worry on the safety of their goods. The central government has taken steps to install digital container tracking system on the container for its safe transport and New Mangalore Port has been included under this initiative.

At a programme which took place at the New Magalore Port on Wednesday, DMICDC CEO Alkesh K Sharma inaugurated the new logistics system. This will be helpful in safely reaching the container to its destination. Every second movement of the container can be inspected through the website.

DLDS plan has been implemented at Chennai, Vishakhapatnam and Krishnapattana ports on Nov 1st and at Cochin Port on Nov 16th. DLDS will be implement at 16 other ports in the country, he informed.

CVO Shrikrishna Karatturi gave information on the function of the logistics data server. NMPT traffic manager Y R Belegal and DLDS COO Sujith Sarkar were present on the occasion.

Logistic Data Bank

Logistic Data Bank (LDB) is managing almost 70% data on containers in the nation. LDB system is managing data of about 1 crore containers. The new system will not only increase the safety of the container, but will also help in keeping a watch on its reaching the destination in time. It will only cost Rs 417 for installing the digital tracking machine per container. Now other than the domestic goods, this machine can be installed on containers coming from foreign countries, thereby securing the safety of the imported goods as well as preventing any misuse.
