Bantwal: The driver of an LPG gas tanker lost control and the vehicle was stopped in a precariously dangerous condition at Panemangaluru here on Friday, November 19.
The incident took place on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway 75 near the Maruti Suzuki showroom in Panemanagluru at around 4 AM today.
At the time, the bullet tanker was full of the highly explosive and hazardous pressurized LPG gas being transported from Mangaluru to Bengaluru.
According to some locals, the lorry veered off the road while giving way for another vehicle to overtake it. The lorry slid off the road embankment and got stuck in a precariously unstable position across the road, sources said.
Traffic movement was disrupted for a while due to the incident. Later, it was lifted and moved aside with the help of a crane.
Bantwal traffic SI Rajesh KV, ASI Vijay and other traffic police personnel rushed to the spot and took quick steps to ensure that traffic was not disturbed for very long.
